Patient Update
Access to Patient Records
There is a national campaign to encourage patients to have access to their medical record via the NHS App and other system providers. Accessing your record can help you with checking your immunisation status including covid vaccinations and will also allow you to request repeat prescriptions. If you have regular blood tests or other investigations, you will be able to see the results. You can also request access to your detailed medical record in order to view consultation notes. If you would like more access to your record, please complete the request form via our website.

Covid Boosters
The practice is working with Didcot Health Centre and Oak Tree Medical Centre to deliver covid boosters to patients over the age of 80 or significantly immunosuppressed at Didcot Civic Hall. We are also ensuring that patients who are housebound or are living in a care home can receive their vaccination. Unfortunately we do not have the capacity to vaccinate any more patients this year but most patients have been able to book their covid vaccination at either Cleggs Pharmacy in Wantage or the Kassam Stadium in Oxford.
Flu Vaccines
We are currently undertaking our flu vaccine programme at the practice including 3 dedicated Saturday clinics. If you haven’t already booked in, please make an appointment. You are eligible for a flu vaccine if you are aged 50 or over or if you have underlying health conditions.
The practice is also undertaking a programme of flu vaccination for pre-school children which is currently underway in dedicated weekday clinics and a planned Saturday in December.
Appointment System
We have listened to patient feedback about our appointment system and are starting to reintroduce a small number of advance bookable appointments for GPs. We will monitor their use carefully and increase these if it is safe to do so. We still have a significant demand for on-the-day appointments with a doctor.
All nursing, annual health review and blood test appointments are advance bookable.
Diabetes Nurse
We have a new diabetes nurse who will be providing support and follow up to patients with diabetes.
Practice Nurses
Following the departure of one of our nurses earlier this year, we have had two new nurses join the practice team and they are currently going through the training programme for Practice nursing. We are gradually managing to extend the appointments that we are offering including smear appointments which were in short supply over the summer months whilst our new staff completed their training.
Developments on Great Western Park
Woodlands Medical Centre is continuing to work with the Council and the commissioners on the development of a branch practice on Great Western Park. We are also looking at interim solutions for capacity due to pressure on current practice space.
Redecoration and Cleaning
The practice is currently redecorating the clinic rooms and putting up protective plastic to protect the walls around the beds and chairs in the waiting room. This work is all helping to contribute towards our endeavours to implement the new National Clinical Cleaning standards for the NHS.
