Support Services
There are a number of services available to support patients with losing weight. Speak to your GP if you need support with this.
Maximus Beezee
You and your GP can refer to local weight loss services provided by Maximus Beezee in Oxfordshire. They have a range of programmes to help you including specialist services for adults, children and specific programmes for men and young people aged 13 to 17.
Contact them today if you want to find out more about how they can help you.
Other Options
If you have tried these services and are still struggling to lose weight, you can talk to your GP about other options. There are specialist services available but they have strict referral criteria and longer waiting times. You will need to show that you have tried consistently to use other local services such as Beezee before you can be referred to a specialist service.
Weight Loss Injections
Weight loss injections through the NHS will be supported for patients with high levels of obesity and other co-morbidities. The phases for prescribing weight loss injections will be dependent on your BMI (Body Mass Index), your existing co-morbities and your ethnicity as these are all factors that add to your risk.
More information is available on the NHS England website
It is very important that we have the most up-to-date information about you and your body mass index. If you are over 40 and have not yet had a NHS health check, please contact the practice to book one. A NHS Health check is like an MOT for your body to see if you are at risk of developing any chronic conditions later in life and to help you take action now.
